I'm tempted to buy it just to see what you could do with it (not really). :D

Ouch!

What a way to treat a Navi. Someone's obviously brave enough to take it on though - $500 right now, and still below reserve.

It's the fact it's 18k that's pushing this up. If you have a steel Navitimer it's a simple matter just to swap the cases and increase the value significantly, at least if the price doesn't go much higher.

If it was $100 Id have a go but $500 is way to much for this IMO

I have repaired and restored ones that were worse than this. Isn't an 18K Nav in good condition in the $3K to $4K range. There are some parts on the movement that are still useable but overall, it would have to be replaced along with the dial and hands. Craig
PS - here is a gold plated chono that I did a few years back more a magazine story. Half is original and half is refinished. We called it the "half fast chrono"!

That's a pretty impressive job Craig!

An 18K Navi in good condition is going to be well over $3K, even in this market, so definitely potential there, it's just a bit of a gamble I guess, unless as Paul says you have a SS Navi to 'upgrade'.

Personally I think it's too expensive now - $1,200 unless it goes to someone like yourself who can do the work themselves.

is this watch still in this half finished condition? If so would you be willing to sell it like that? I would love to wear it completely as is

Thanks for the offer but I use it at watch shows to show my work. Besides, it was harder to do half a watch that a whole one and I wouldn't want to do it again.
Too Roff and all - I will be out to the US on vacation to Italy and the Greek Islands until June 19th. I will resume repair work after that date. Thank you all for your support. Craig
