I was looking through the late Chuck Maddox's site and came across a few nice Breitling links.
If you haven't seen the site before it is an amazing vintage resource, a sort of Alladin's cave of
vintage links and info, mostly Omega and Heuer.

A very nicely scanned 1973 Breitling German catalogue:

AOPA Magazine, breitling Advert.

Preston Distributors Catalogue:

Obviously the Navi and Cosmo were on sale!

I understood that Wakmann had an exclusive distribution contract in 1969, so it's interesting that this is an offer for direct shipment from Switzerland. I wonder how that was managed and how long it lasted.

Also, the images don't show the AOPA logo, which is consistent with this "direct from Switzerland" appeal. The one image has the standard two-airplane logo, but the other two images have a more typical Breitling "B / Breitling / Geneve" marking. I wonder what arrived from Switzerland?

And, the bezels look beaded.

That's bizarre - beaded bezel, small subs, everything points to an earlier watch.

In terms of Wakmann, I suspect (but really just guessing) that there was probably some kind of royalty payment / revenue share on these.

The same illustration appears in this 1969 catalogue as well.

Perhaps a stock picture? The two-airplane picture doesn't seem like a beaded bezel to me?

Is this a grey market import. It makes a feature of being "a fraction of their American retail price".

Same beaded bezel Navitimer image seems to be in Breitling ads from 1967.
