New England is expensive, but I'm sure more reasonable than the UK. Canada is a beautiful country, but it's just too cold for me up north. I'll say this, I've never met a rude Canadian.

I would love to live further south (I really want to live in the Caribbean someday), but the way of life here is simple. We are blessed with low cost of living, and wonderful people here. It's very laid back here.

Winter is very mild and summers are HOT here in the central US!

i'm in south korea now, but southern cali is the only way to go. you have everything at your fingertips, beaches, mountains (snow), the desert, lush hills, every kind of landscape you could want. vegas is only a 4 hourish drive away if you have a bit of a lead foot. great food, great weather (this is what i think makes people so friendly there) and just a great melting pot of cultures, etc. now if only the housing prices would drop a bit . . . but even those are starting to slowly head south from what i hear from my friends back home.

Although much of New England is further north than parts of Canada, including the most populous part (Southern Ontario).

Depending on where you are thinking in BC Sherlock the weather can be very English - especially Vancouver, although prices there are pretty expensive by Canadian standards.

I loved St. Lucia as well. My wife and I stayed at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Great island!

I'm from BC :) Its beautiful here, but a bit rainy during the spring and winter... its a nice moderate climate, however we didn't have much of a summer this year.

Property in BC is the most expensive in all of Canada at the moment... which is not surprising since from a climate and quality of living standpoint BC is arguably the best in Canada.. but that's subjective.

Gotta love the Great White North, eh?

Vancouver is a fine city.....A friend of mine played basketball there, and enjoyed his time there before the team moved to Memphis (Which is a cess pool).
