Post subject:  Changes ahead......

So I am receiving a few PMs about this and I guess that was to be expected when I put a sales thread up. Most people have offered very kind thoughts and I thought I should probably explain what's going on.

Firstly, nothing is wrong! Over the last couple of years my wife and I have been discussing the possibility of her retiring and me semi-retiring and moving to somewhere that offers more consistently good weather than Canada. As some of you know I am English by birth and having made a move to a new country once it doesn't seem like a big deal to do it again.

We've looked at a number of possible destinations but after a recent research trip we have settled on Roatan in the Caribbean. We have found a couple of possible homes although we are also open to renting for a while and waiting for the right house to come to market, or to buying a lot and building. We are in the process of listing our Canadian home for sale and hope to make the move before the winter.

So, while I will still be working part time it will be a very different lifestyle where watches (and time) will be a lot less important, and where a G-Shock will be the accessory of choice for most occasions. There's nothing happening imminently, but there are a million different things to sort out so trying to get a head start on a few of them.

I know we've had a few correspondences on this Roff, but I just want to publically reiterate my colossal jealousy and boundless hatred for your immense good fortune at being able to do this at such a (relatively) young age! Ya lucky b'stard!

Very exciting times for you both, and I'm sure it'll be the best move you've ever made...........and considering you got out of the UK to Canada, it's up against some pretty stiff competition! I truly hope it all works out smoothly. (And if all the planning doesn't go like clockwork, you'd best not tell anyone considering what you do for a day job!  )

Best of luck Andy. After going through another Wisconsin winter and waking up to temperatures in the 40s in June, moving to Honduras sounds pretty good right about now.

Awesome, just awesome. After living in Michigan and visiting Canada a lot I totally understand. I have moved twice both times further south to beat the cold. Totally jealous of your future latitude, best of luck!

Andy, you'll still listen to music, so that might be interesting for you; haven't heard their loudspeakers but audiophile friends are raving, apparently the headphones are spectacular, kickstarter campaign ends today.

Can a UK/Canadian move that close to the equator? Won't the sun make you explode or catch fire?

Sounds fantastic Roff, and makes perfect sense given the weather alone in your new location. Best of luck with the move and finalizing everything!

Hey Roff, I've been away form the forum for a while and am trying to get caught up. I've had work and kids taking up most of my free time as of late and the forum was just an additional burden I didn't need.

Just wondering if you have an update on the move. Sounds like exciting times!

Just waiting for the Canadian house to sell and then we are on our way. House here in Canada is a little bit of a specialist market so it may take time, but such is life. We've got a couple of options on the island and hopefully patience on the Canadian sale will be rewarded by a recovering C$ to US$ exchange rate.
