I have an iphone 3g, it's great except for battery life when doing anything except text or talking. my brother just got a storm and they are on sim cards now, don't know about the rest of the crackberry lineup. as far as some of the lesser known phones not generally represented by US carriers, I wanted to get the nokia N-95, only problem for me was price (about $600-700 without a contract).

as far as iphone goes, between my brother, my sister (new regular looking bb), and I all of our bills are nearly the same about $87/month. as someone else mentioned earlier my beef with the iphone is no support for flash, no cut and paste function or worthy text editor, no picture sms (it sends you a link that you can't open in the phones browser either. although the second problem can be solved by jailbreaking the phone then calling AT&T and telling them you don't want the iphone plan because you are using your old handset... on the jailbroken iphone, cydia is the unofficial "App Store" where all the programs are free and most are better than the ones available through the official app store.

I say BB, just because I have one (not the storm though), and the OS is just amazing.

Who is your service provider? If its sprint, I would wait a couple of months for the Palm Pre. The first impressions from CES have just come out and it looks like an awesome phone. I might just drop the BB for it.

3. Have you looked at G1? Cheap price $179 & coverage will get better when TMobile expand 3G network

The G1 feels so cheap. It's made of plastic, and it's hard to type the letters on the far right side of the keyboard because the bottom part is in the way. It is cheap, but it feels like it too.

I guess it depends what you want. The iPhone will always be better then blackberry because it's open platform. The things you can do on an iPhone you can't do on any other phone. I can identify a sign with my phone, buy it on iTunes and have it sent to my iTunes account...all from my iPhone. I can watch movies. Use a Scientific Calculator. Use Google Earth, It's a flashlight, french lessons, Youtube, iTunes, Radio, Game unit [I have 18 games on my iPhone right now], I read the NY Times and the Bloomberg Report before they're even printed and delivered. You can't get those apps on a BB. The advantages to a BB is that its a closed platform, which means it is a more secure network. That would be important if you were using it for work exclusively. My brother works for a large Healthcare company and that protections is something they need for their employees.

But BB won't have an open platform anytime soon, so you don't have hundreds of thousands of people making your phone better.

Post script...I come from a family of iPhone users. My sisters have iphones, their husbands have them, my parents have them, my brother and his wife have them. So my opinion is a little biased :D

NEITHER!! Check Out Nokia's first 'proper' touchscreen venture - the Nokia 5800.
It is AMAZING VALUE - at its price point. It also has almost all the features I would want -
3G and WiFi for fast Internet Access, Built in FM Radio, Accelerometer - for some quirky applications like - How many steps do you walk in a day and hence calories burnt, etc?
Built in GPS for navigation and maps, Music Player, Media Player - which plays MP4 and Importantly - a TV Out. Simply plug into a TV and see on the big screen what you see on your phone. Great for videos, family photos, video games etc.
Plus Thousands of free Apps and games - plays all these formats - Flash games/apps, Nokia games/apps, python games/apps, Java games.

It has already been released here in the Middle East and parts of Europe. Very soon to be released in the US as well.
Check It Out!!

This thread's title is hysterical!! :)

The dumbest smartphone of all time - the Storm - was anticipated with such optimism.

Thanks for resurrecting this one. I almost forgot about my 6 months from hell when I "upgraded" from the Curve to the Storm
:) :). :) :)

Evidently even spammers have a purpose in life - I got a good chuckle from that one. Had to give credit where credit is due, even if the motive was wrong. ;)

You can do the best of things, but many will say that in end, they're no better than what motivated them... That strange thing they call morals... I never understood it either ;)

Ok, never mind, just felt like getting a little philosophical all of a sudden... Must be the heat.
