Over the last few days I've been mulling over the purchase of a new watch, in particular a Panerai. Now, I posted questions etc on a number of associated forums for this brand including one on here but tbh never really thought I would get much of a reply for obvious reasons although I do know there are 1 or 2 fans here.

Anyway the crux of the story is I got virtually 1 helpful reply out of the 3 or 4 replies I did get on the other forums.......bloody useless!! It's not hindered me at all in searching for something new but its made me think about when I posted here first with no clue about the brand or what I wanted. Even still I got loads of replies to any questions I asked and everyone was helpful and friendly, some of these sites including one in particular could take a leaf out of this forum's book and its members. BreitlingSource = NO 1!!

Oh and I'm about to take a hit on a PAM441 if anyones interested! :nana:

Glad that members were able to help you out Andrew. This site certainly has become a lot more of a general watch appreciation site in recent years and while we don't like to compare with other sites I think that the general sense is that we enjoy being a little different than some other places.

Hey Andrew - glad BS is still providing the goods!

To be honest I've been a member of a number of watch forums (under varying screen-names) and some places are so bl**dy anti-social I've not stayed around long. I remember on one forum (that shall remain nameless), I wrote a nice introductory mail about myself and my watch collecting, and expressed how much liked the watches that the forum was dedicated to, and after a couple of days over 50 people had read it, and not one person bothered to reply or say hi.

BreitlingSource is nothing if not friendly (most of the time!)

Maybe I expected too much after my experiences here.

I just shook my head, you post on a well known, 'dedicated' forum to Panerai which has an amzing amount of traffic going through it about purchasing a watch and getting some advice. 1 person gives you a decent amount of information another told me too look at the sales corner(fair enough) and someone had a go about 'we don't discuss pricing on this site'!!! All I asked for was a price, not a discussion............useless in my opinion.

I also laughed because I then replied back saying I'd found a watch etc..........no replies.........................USELESS!

This is by far my favorite watch forum. The most helpful, modest and genuine people I've conversed with about watches. Oh and don't forget knowledgable! You guys are damn watch smart!

I don't even bother with other forums, as none compare to this site.
