Way to go Tom. Isn't it amazing how perspective changes everything? What could be devastating and ruinous to one man is seen as a blessing by another. I've been moping about something far, far, far less serious all evening. Your post has given me the upper cut i needed. Thanks mate.

Not a nice post to hear that you had such issues but truly Inspiring in the way you handle it and your outlooks. Life is not easy at the moment but I take a similar outlook of worrying about it does not helps whatsoever, like novacastrain says you also have given me a bit of a uppercut!

That trully sucks Sharky. But glad to hear that it's the best possible outcome of a really bad situation. Thanks for sharing your story, your courage & your faith!

Sorry to hear your news. Glad you posted your comments here so we can all benefit from your experience. My older brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer as well, and at a similar age. That was 10 years ago, and gladly, he is fighting fit and enjoying every minute of life. Having checks every so often to review his situation, which is important to do.

Stay strong. 8)

Oh, and 55 is not old, no matter what they tell you. It’s the new 40! You remember that when anyone tells you otherwise. Take it from a 56 year old! :D

Cheers.

Can't add anything more apart from my best wishes, Tom. Very sorry to hear about it, but on the other hand it is good to hear how you're handling it. You'll be on top of it in no time with that outlook. All the best.

I just read this for the first time now, I'm sorry to hear the diagnosis, but happy to hear the prognosis. Awesome!!

I wish you all the best and I hope you stay strong in your faith.

Sorry to hear the news, and glad to hear your Gleason score :-) You're right those biopsies are painful... when I used to work in urology I was always glad to be on the biopsing side rather than being the patient :S Thankfully your doctor is right that most people die with prostate cancer rather than from it.Thoughts and prayers,
- J
