Anyone ever take this online school? I am very interested in it and wonder if anyone else has done it and if so what are the reactions?

Looks like it would cost around $350 for the tuition and the tool kit/movement for the first course.

I was going to take this class, then life just got busy. Actually I was faced with an option.. should I take the class or should I start this website, and I started this website instead. This website takes up much of my spare time (well it did more so intially when I was setting it up).. so haven't really gotten around to it. If you do decide to take it.. Let us know how it goes!!!

Yeah, I have decided to take the course just not sure when I am going to start. I assume there will be some time before my supplies show up also. I will post about it as soon as I get going.

Before you invest a lot of money in tools, you can always ask for my opinion, if they're useful and stuff, I'll let you know! Myself I have a whole bunch of tools I never use, and they're all expensive!

I have found ton's of sellers on eBay that can cut the price of tools by more than half of what the school sells! I wonder about the quality of tools though. I will order the movement from the school, just so I am working on exactly what the class is teaching.

Do you feel that the tools they are showing are the correct items I should have initially? I am not really worried about money spent on tools, just money wasted on bad or useless tools. Any info would be great!

Surf the TZ site a little when you have time and you will find pricing on the movements, tools, and optional tools. Also, the course study is posted with a sample of a course. Again, thanks for any help!

All the tools are needed.
Do not get the optivisor though.
In the optional items section, you should definately get the demagnitizer, since you need that for every single movement repair (I use the Horotec demagnitizer for open movements). The mainspring winder is helpful for practising, but once you really start repairing watches, you'll need to replace the mainspring every time, so the winder becomes unnecessary.
I like the #1 tweezers most, and a brass tweezer is very helpful as well, since the don't get magnitised and don't scratch hands...

This type of movement holders are very easy to use.
Plus get for sure extra blades for the screwdrivers 1.20mm, 1.00mm, 0.8mm.
You should get Moebius 9415 oil for the pallets, it just works better.
Once you notice something isn't really working for you, just ask for my advice on an alternative, I hopefully can come up with one!

This looks really interesting chance97. Great advise from Watchmakeress too! I'm one of those people who would love to be able to repair and build watches, but never sought the education. I may sign up for this too. Let me know what your investment was when you add all the tools you need, and keep us posted on how you get on.
