They will be arriving soon, but first I need to tell you all that I got a gorgeous baby son yesterday - Lenny. He's the reason ive done all this and worked 100 hour weeks for the past 6 months - and boy is he worth it.

Huge congrats Jim, I'm sure Lenny is worth all your efforts. Enjoy your wonderful family.

Good morning all, sorry I haven't posted for a while, been busy!
The extension still isn't totally finished but the builders have finally done their bit, and it's jut up to me now to finish off some wiring and to get the outdoor lighting and sounds hooked up. Can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with how it's turned out, turns out newborn, Lenny, is pretty pleased with the house I built him too
Image

Anyway, on to the build! The rendering was completed last week, as was the gate to block access to the rear garden from the drive - much more private now. Continuing the render on to the old part of the house was a stroke of genius, it really helps new to tie in with old, especially with the exposed section of existing brickwork inbetween the windows.
Image
On the rear elevation, the exposed rsj has been given a final sand and coat of grey paint to match the window frames, the pressed steel fascia boards have been mounted to hide the gutters and the brickwork has been given a clean.
Image
The outdoor furniture has also made an appearance and with the decent weather over the weekend we even managed a BBQ!
Image
Image
Hoping to get my last few bits done over the bank holiday, I will then get my SLR out and do some proper photos.
Let me know how you think it's turned out people!
Not too far off the original design I don't think...

Work on a house truly is never ending isn't it...
As and when I've had the time I've been tinkering with the last few bits that needed doing - finally ticked off the list is all of the outside lighting, wiring and fixing in the extractor fan in the kitchen and firing up the home network properly. Now these bits are sorted its on to the next project, lennys future play room. Tv is already sorted and on the wall but we needed toy storage, and lots of it. Will keep you updated as we go during the week but here's a couple of pics to show you where we started and where I am up up now with the alcove storage / console under tv.

Here's today's work, nearly there now, just the edges of the shelves to finish off, and handles.
