Couldn't be more off-topic than this...

I have an iPod Touch (bit like an iPhone for the uninitiated) and I use iTunes to squirt music into it. Works fine.

I'm thinking about getting an iPhone 'cos then I wouldn't have to fill up my pockets with Palms and iPods and telephones, when one iPhone would do everything.

My question - given that iTunes (on my laptop) will only accept the connection of a single and unique iPod, what happens if I want to connect an iPhone? Have Apple considered this possibility, or do I simply transfer the iPod stuff onto the iPhone once and for all or will iTunes handle both?

Aside from this, I ordered my Navitimer World this morning....

I can't help you at all regarding the iPod question. I heavily dislike iTunes and prefer other ways to listen to my music - FLAC into a Squeezebox and further into a Monitor Audio system...

But for the Navi acquisition - sounds great! Looking forward to see some pics!

I'm very happy with my Quad pre/post amps, Electrostatics etc. as well - but I find them so damn uncomfortable on airplanes...

The principle reason I'm thinking of an iPhone is to reduce the rubbish in my pockets - and whilst iTunes has its limitations, it suits my purposes adequately.

True. Carrying the complete sound system to the airplane might cause some discomfort...

Man you guys are way out of my league, I still think my Bose 7.1 system sounds sweet, though my A/V Amp sucks. For some reason there is some deep rumbling whenever any base is produced.

It will recognize the phone and the ipod separately but you can create different playlists to upload to each one. If I were you I would just upload my entire library to the phone and sell the ipod. No real need for it?

All this talk about food is making me hungry

Thanks Chance97 - that's pretty much what I'd planned to do - this said, I've got to get this plan past the G/F - she's taken the GMT ll quite well ( ) so I don't want to go too over the top...

Yeah.. what chance said. I have a a few iPods and when you plug them in it recognizes it as a different ipod and lets you sync it differently... but agreed on there being no need for 2 such similar ipods/iphones. Creating the playlists to upload to each one is a bit of a pain however with 2 ipods.. its not an ideal set up.

Man I didn't realize there were some Audiophiles in here, where were you guys in my audiophile thread? :|

Talks of Quads and Squeezeboxes is good stuff :) My buddy out here is a Monitor Audio dealer.

Sorry Admin, missed that topic.

Playing a pair of Monitor Audio GS60 and a pair of Monitor Audio GS10 together with a REL Quake II, through a squeezebox and a Primare I30 - I like that setup.

Sorry about the off topic, but then again this is the "off topic thread"...

Love the Monitor Audio gold series.. the series that really impressed me were the bronze ones for the price though! How are you runing both the GS60 and the GS10 with only 1 integrated? Is it surround sound or...?

I am running:
Gershman Acoustics X-1/SW-1 Speakers
Odyssey Extreme Monoblock Amplifiers
Linar Pre-2 Preamplifier
Lite DAC-62 Digital Analogue Converter
Sony DV555-ES Highly Modified Universal CD/SACD Player
Pro-Ject Perspective Turntable
Grado Prestige Gold Cartridge
SonoStasis Phono Preamp
SonoSupply Power Supply
Monster and PureAV Power Filtration

I plan to add a squeezebox at some time, but those Olive Audio music servers look real good to me too.

I don't know who you are, but if you haven't got anything to say about my iPhone question then I'm going to have to ask you to leave...

Sportback - very sorry.

Admin - yes, they are setup as an optional "surround system" (actually without a center speaker, but the sub compensate that quite ok). I have some switches so I can run either the GS60's or the GS10's, or both, without having to connect/disconnect a lot of wires. Maybe this one should continue in another topic? :)

Back to the iPhone - I agree with Chance. From what I've understood from friends there's no problem with using the iPhone and the iPod at the same time. But, if you're getting the iPhone to reduce electronics in your pockets, it's quite likely that you'll leave the iPod on the shelf.

No you're not!!

Yes I agree, so who want's to buy a month old iPod Touch?

I have an HTC P3600 that works really very well - it's got pretty much everything - WiFi, Bluetooth, even GPS, but frankly I don't use all the functions as often as I could, so having all I need in one box seems more logical to me. Downsizing is what is needed here - I don't even use the GPS as I've already got it in the car, and I seem to be able to find my way around my house without too many problems...as for e-mail, I stopped sending it to the 'phone as the damn thing was bleating all day as the spam arrived!

I'll see if I can get this past the g/f...the rest will be simple!
