Oh, are England planning on batting in this match? That'll make a nice change from the 1st two tests

Have faith chaps, the lads will come good, the Johnson bloke is out already and if by chance we do lose ,we can console ourselves with the thought that the Aussies have to drink crap like Fosters and Castlemain. Barmy Army !!!!

Looks like an improved England performance this time, but still 200+ behind with only 6 left so likely giving up a first innings lead again.

England may as well have saved on their air fares this series and just posted the Ashes over to Australia (metaphorically speaking! ). Abysmal.

Yep, the series will be over in the next couple of days, maybe in the next 24 hours. Great bounce back by Australia, embarrassing displays across the board by England.

Yup. The previous series may have looked straightforward at 3-0 but the cricket was often even; this is awful. I'm a cricket fan before I'm an England fan and just so disappointed at the uncompetitiveness of this. Not that that will stop Australians relishing every minute of it, and they're well entitled. Assuming Aus smash quick runs and declare around lunchtime tomorrow then the only way England can salvage any pride is to bat five sessions and escape with a draw, which would feel like a win. But 100-1 would look like generous odds on that right now.

I am surprised that the English haven't done better with their batting on very good pitches. Perplexing for English fans everywhere I'm sure, particularly given the talent of the team. Clearly some very good Australian bowling has contributed but I thought the games would be closer. It's not done of course but we're in a very good position; great work by the Aussie team.

I'd love to say that every Australian saw this coming but to be honest i expected us to lose 2-1. It seems to be primarily a product of aggression, confidence and culture: Boof Lehmann, Billy MacDermott and the Mitchell Johnson X- Factor.

I hope the England players enjoy their Austrailian tour, because with the possible exception of Root, Cook & Broad none of them will be returning for another crack at it. Time to discard quite a few players after the tour finishes in my opinion.

Surely Bell has to be one of them don't you think? He did play well in England last year but has done nothing so far (assuming he doesn't find some form of course). What are your thoughts on Pietersen? He's getting buried in the press but is such a good player in general. Can't imagine him being moved on.

Cook out first ball - you honestly couldn't make this up.

While I certainly don't like us to lose, it's actually not so much the losing of the series that's so irritating to me (and let's be honest, it's well and truly over already!), it's the manner of the capitulation that's so appalling. England need a complete rebuild from the ground up, which is incredible considering where they were in the summer. Boycott's been in the press going on about how this has coming for sometime. Hindsight's a wonderful thing isn't it Geoff......

Anyway, I guess the lads could still scrape a draw here. :poke:   KIDDING! (If they did it'd be the Great Escape of all great escapes. Kind of like Steve McQueen making the jump on his bike over the barbed wire..... while wearing a straightjacket.... and a blindfold..... while carrying an elephant.)

So all I can say is well played Australia - you can't argue with that kind of performance from a team that was effectively written off by many before the series started. Great heart and spirit from the guys.... but then as I've said before I've learnt over the years to never ever write-off an Aussie team.

So England will be "playing for pride" in the last 2 tests will they? That'll be nice as they clearly haven't bothered about that so far.

Of course I say that and Bell goes and makes 60  And even Pietersen made a start. The English tail is wagging. Good knock by Stokes.

It's done. Nice to see all the Aussie guys praising Ben Stokes' knock. It was superb.
