So I'm thinking pretty seriously of going to the galaxy s4 from the iPhone 4, because I want a bigger screen size and word is that apple isn't intending to make anything bigger than the 5 screen-wise. Also to try something different. Has anyone switched from apple to samsung? Thought? what's the learning curve like?

I had an s3 for awhile when my iPhone 4 was up for renewal. I had it 3 weeks and had to change it out twice. That did not make me happy, but what really bugged me was the power drain (their advice was to turn off half of the items on the phone that I wanted). And the handset heats up quite a bit. It is due to the quad core processor on the s3 that heats up and the handset material is plastic, so heat transfers through easier. I went to an iPhone 5 instead and have not looked back. If you like the openness of Android, you may be able to look past those items though, but I could not. Old and set in my ways, am I.

:D

Same here, had gone to the Galaxy S II back when that was new... It took me three weeks of trying to convince myself I had made the right choice before I went back to an iPhone 4S. It was everything about the phone, the bluish tint of the screen, the make-no-sense-to-me menu, the plastic shell that would come off if pressed too hard, the screen that had a little flex in it and would bend a tiny bit inwards when pressed... It just wasn't up to the quality I had got used to with the iPhone. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means opposed to anything other than the iPhone. I'd be willing to try something new any day of the week, but it'd have to be worth the trouble of getting out of my comfort zone... the Galaxy (S II in my case) just wasn't.

I think if your on iOS you will find it hard to move.

Any Galaxy owners I know swear by them and likewise any one on iOS swear by their choice!

Funny really!

I've just gone from an iPhone 4S to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and haven't looked back. It's better (for me) in every way, better screen, better battery, and a better interface that can be customised to suit me.
The Note 2 does have a bigger battery than the S3, which along with the better screen and S-pen is the reason I chose it. If you want something smaller than the Note 2 (5.5 inch screen) the new S4 is coming in the next couple of months...

I've had every iPhone since the beginning, and I've also broken every single one of them. I've recently switched to the gs3 and I haven't looked back. The only thing I miss is imessage but that about it

Iphone doesnt do a lot of the things that android does, but thats mostly a side effect of feature creep.

Good point RJ. Which do you have?

How's your golf game? We haven't had the chance to get out much this winter.

Ive got an iphone 5. I like it because it does a great job at everything I need it to do, and isnt bloated with unnecessary junk.

Believe it or not, im in a happy place with my golf game. Its been a couple of years since ive been able to say that (knock on wood).

I did not. I was just watching some news coverage of it last night though and thinking about how I should have gone.

I'm of those that have tried the Galaxy range and never looked back. IMHO the advantages over the i-phone are numerous and the independence compared to the we-want-to-control-everything Apple products much greater. But, to each it's own, there are die-hard supporters for each.

I tried the Galaxy 2 Skyrocket, from an IPhone 4 and I wasn't impressed. The screen size is why I switched. I have a huge music library and was able to even port my iTunes library to it with an app. My Skyrocket was glitchy and slow and I had to reboot it 4-5 times a week. Not sure if it was due to the amount of storage my music ate up, my emails as I have three accounts, or what but I had to switch back. I have an iPhone 5 now and out of 64 gigs I have 45 used up and my phone still works as quick as the day I got it. I'm a die hard Apple guy I have an IMac, IPad mini, Apple TV and my fiancé and I have an IPhone 5. Oh and my oldest son has an iPod touch.

I have a friend who has one and it is pretty cool. But whenever he puts it to his ear to use as a phone I can't help but think of my first "mobile phone" back in the mid '90s. Personally I couldn't get by the sheer size, though I certainly understand the attraction.

I'll stick with iPhone and am about to upgrade to the 5....maybe. Between the iPhone and the iPad, I feel I'm covered.

The note 2 is awesome but enormous. I doubt it would fit in my pants pocket.

I think I'm going to wait for the purported iPhone 6 to be released in June (apparently - along with a 5s that is more affordable) and compare then. Despite my appreciation of the s4 screen size, it will be difficult to justify learning a new system, particularly given I have a mac at home. Will be good to play with both before deciding.

And to hi-jack my own thread:

I just picked up a set of the Mizuno MP 64's. Can't wait to use them. The only problem is the weather completely sucks for golf :x
