What would you buy?

The Breitling Transocean Chronograph have the excellent B01 movement. I know JLC is famous for movements, some even call it the watchmakers watch (or brand), but I am a little underwhelmed by the 751 movement in the JLC Polaris Chronograph.

Link to some info and pictures of the JLC:

I voted for the JLC, JLC is extremely under appreciated by watch enthusiasts. Although the Transocean chronograph is very nice I think that in the long term you will be better served by the JLC. Both will take hits in the resale market, although I think the JLC will retain more of it value than the Breitling will. It is extremely important to make sure that you buy either at the right price. Even with the new ownership in place, Breitling is doing little to address the grey market and value retention is still extremely poor unless initially purchased at a good discount.

Another tidbit of info, Although JLC only come with a two year warranty I just received info from my AMEX Cards that they will extend an item's warranty for two years if purchased using your AMEX card. Might be worth looking into when it comes time to purchase!

This is pretty hard for me since I have always wanted a JLC. For me, I'm not a big fan of square pushers on this particular model, and I think the Transocean is very well proportioned.

Transocean for me!

Both of these are excellent quality, and you're not going to go wrong either way.

To my mind, the Polaris has a bolder, sportier feel than the TOC. I'm a fan of JLC, and it's nice to see a more robust chronograph offering from them. No doubt, a great sport chronograph.

Compared to the Polaris, I find the TOC to be a bit more subtle stylistically. While it does very nicely as a casual sport chronograph, I think it may be a tad more versatile in that it can also dress up a little, as well. (As a TOC owner, that has certainly been my experience...)

On a side note -- I think that the TOC is one of the nicest chronographs out there, bar none, and it amazes me that it flies so far under the radar in the watch forum universe. It's a classic in my book.

At the end of the day, your choice between the JLC and the TOC is going to come down to personal taste and preference, along with a sense of exactly how you see the watch fitting in with your own needs. Good luck with your decision!

Not to beat a dead horse, was just reviewing Watchrecon and saw a brand new Basel Release from Breitling being offered at over 30 percent off from an AD. Please do your pricing homework, we are talking thousands of dollars in pricing!

Neither as I'm a Chronomat (41) guy. That one I do love.

Transocean for me, both superb pieces and only personal preference can dictate which is best. The TO is faultless in design whereas I think the Polaris leaves something to be desired.

Now I have tried both watches on my wrist. It wasn't easy to find the JLC Polaris Chronograph, so it took some time.
I have the Breitling Transocean Day Date - I really like it on my 8.25 inches wrist - even a little bit better than the Breitling Chrono.

I like the look of the dial of the JLC. I tried it on a strap. But the Polaris was just a little too small, even the seller made it clear that the watch was too small for me.

Nice watches, but maybe I save my money this time

Transocean gets my vote. I was looking at these in store last weekend when I got my Superocean and I really like them.

I was also looking at a Polaris from JLC. I really like their reputation to be the watch makers watch maker. But given I could never see one in person I went Breitling.

Try reading and maybe you'll figure why you have to choose JLC over Transocean.

Update: I bought the Breitling Transocean Chronograph!
Black dial and subdials. Bought it used, this is the first time I buy a used watch. Fantastic price and watch.
