I am about to buy a Galactic 36 SleekT /w steel bracelet for my wife on a very special occasion and will be getting it brand-new from an authorized dealer. I am in Seattle and called up the two Breitling ADs in town. The problem is that both would only state the "retail price" over the phone while indicating that if I walked into their store with my wife they would make sure that we are happy with our purchase ... which I guess means haggling is allowed.

Any suggestion on how much lower than retail I should reasonably aim for? Specifically, for a new W7433012/BE08 with a $4850 sticker, what pre-tax would be a good price? I am obviously new at this and will appreciate any help :-)

There are dealers on the east coast who are selling a Galactic 36 Sleek T model on a leather strap for approximately 40-45% off. You can pm me for details .

Thanks @56scooter ! It however has to be a bracelet not leather ... In any case, if there are authorized dealers selling at 40-45% off retail then they are definitely worth knowing about. After all I am going for brand new just to make sure that we have the full 2 years e-warranty since things can go wrong with purely Quartz pieces in ways we needn't worry about in mechanical ones. So may be I can call up a few of them to see if they can get the bracelet one?

Not every watch will be offered at 40-45% off. As with everything else it is a matter of supply and demand. You won't get that type of discount on a Navitimer BNIB, but a less popular watch will be available at that discount!
