On my hunt to find a 2009 circa super-ocean Ive come to notice how increasingly rare these seem to be. There seems to be only one in the current market (yellow dial) they also came in blue and black I believe. and its features seem so unique.

-Shadow dial
-Red super-ocean text
-Heritage hour hand

Similar to a red text submariner being a collectors dream today which back then didn't seem so special do you guys have any bets on the super-ocean? Image

Mass produced, probably all not that popular. It’s an OK looking watch but nothing special in my book...

My thoughts exactly. Any modern day Breitling that isn’t a truly limited edition will have a hard time keeping value.

That’s pretty much how modern Breitling watches must be approached. Buy them because you like them but don’t view them as investments or items that will decently hold value overtime. There will be few and far in between exceptions with Navitimer models. Unfortunately the brand suffers from an image problem (Bling, gaudy big watches) and with the new ownership/management its future is not yet clear.

I also want to warn you about the declining quality of official Breitling service that used to be among the best in mid tier brands not that long ago.

I do think that among Breitling aficionados this particular model - often described as the 'transitional' - will have a bit of a cult following but, as others have said, not more than that. It was available from autumn 2008 to spring 2010, so you would assume production from spring 2008 to autumn 2009. Not that many around. I have the coral version and absolutely love it.

Yeah my thoughts weren't that it would be the next Rolex daytona (although i do think Breitling is undervalued as a brand) but among Breitling lovers I couldn't help but notice the detail that would make it unique and rarity of finding one on the market. Me personally this super-ocean transitional hits all the check boxes. Congrats on yours it will be interesting to see what the future holds.

Thanks for the heads up on the service. I don't really see any watch as an investment.

I like the fact that's it's a transitional model and a bit unique. And that splash of red. Image
