Ah, see a reference dark triangle on top of bezel now, wonder if it's this outer ring that only moves.

I prefer the current buckle style vs the new version on this watch.

So Breitling now makes straps without their signature white stitching. I wonder why they made the change.

Good point -- I hadn't really noticed that. Great development, though -- it would be nice to have some options that don't involve the white stitching.

They also look less padded.

I'm still processing the Navitimer 8. Not drawing any conclusions at the moment -- will want to re-visit this one in the context of Breitling's upcoming offerings at Baselworld.

Well, there's a lot I like about this Navitimer 8. I like the general "understatedness" of it - the brushed surfaces, the panda dial, the handset, plus the improved WR are all good things. I do think it's generally a very handsome piece, and a massive improvement over some of the really rather gaudy pieces Breitling have made in recent years.

However there are two things I'm not such a fan of. It may sound minor, but I think it really needs an applied "B" on the dial like the SOH. The painted "B" makes it all a little TOO understated IMO. And the other thing (and this is broken record time I'm afraid), it's the damn 4:30 date position! It's just a huge personal bug-bear of mine. At the very least I'd like to see the date actually aligned upright in the window : if the likes of B&R can manage it, I'm sure Breitling could.

That said, if this is the shape of things to come, then I think we could be on the verge of a pretty decent new era for Breitling.

Beautiful timepiece that needs it’s own name. That is NOT a Navitimer.

Why is it not a Navitimer ?

Breitling made Navitimers without sliderules since the 1950ies , they even made a 3 hand dress watch in the mid/late 1950ies called 'Navitimer'

The early Aerospace was called Navitimer, The (Grand) Premiers were Navitimers and the Aviastar was also a Navitimer ? , and I am sure we can come up with many more Navitimers that did not have a sliderule or resemble what most people believe *IS* a Navitimer ?

Dracha, with all due respect to your extensive knowledge of Breitling's history and models, I am of the opinion that over the years, Breitling itself has defined the Navitimer as its iconic watch. When it did this in the past, the watch you saw was the "traditional" Navitimer as most people today know it. Obviously, as you have pointed out there has been others that have used the name, but today, when "most" people think of a Breitling Navitimer they do not picture the Grand Premiers or the Aviastars as Breitling's flagship model. I was hoping for a more traditional Navitimer drawing heavily from it's strong historic DNA. Before passing final judgement I will have to see it in person, but as of now I will pass.

Is it really? In that case I love it! In the pics I’ve seen so far I thought it was painted. I guess that’ll teach me for looking at them on my phone!

It's a fine looking piece. I especially like the design of the lugs. If i was in the market for a chronograph i think i'd go look at Glashutte Original instead of this.

Also i think they missed the mark putting the in-house movement in their again. I just wished they would have developed a hand wound movement to highlight the history of the watch.

If they have a silver dial version I might change my mind!
