Post subject:  Breitling Boutique discounts?

I'm really keen on getting a Breitling Superocean Heritage 42mm. I want brand new, not pre-owned, and I'm looking for the blue dial and blue bezel version with the mesh strap. My only concern is the resale value of the watch (especially since my alternative is to purchase a Rolex Submariner which holds value really well) and I think a slight discount on the RRP of the watch would compensate for this and make my mind up. The list price is £3710 (Im in the UK).

Should I expect or is it possible to be given a discount in an official Breitling boutique? I don't see the point of a Breitling boutique saying no but Jewellers in the same shopping centre literally 30m away saying yes (assuming they do, which from what I have heard is a given).

What type of discount should I expect or ask for?

I have typically asked for and gotten 20% off list here in the states. I suspect the dealers pay about 60% of retail for the watch and 70% of retail for the bands and other accessories. Boutique may be a different story. I would ask, what's the worse they can say? I have established a relationship with one dealer though so he just gives me the same discount each time.

Married her daughter, eh? (Just kidding, sorry... :) ) Theoretically boutiques may give a similar discount to AD-s... worth a try both and go for the better. Keep us informed plz!

Typically a Boutique will not discount the price. What they will do, however, is throw in an extra strap, etc., for free. There's certainly no harm in asking, but your best bet for a discount is with an AD.

I was unsuccessful at negotiating a discount at the NYC boutique back in March. Instead, they offered me a Breitling passport cover. I ended up purchasing my Galactic Unitime somewhere else.

I had success in negotiating a better price at the NYC boutique on a Cosmonaute a few months back. I am a returning customer, not sure if that had anything to do with it. But I do think time of year may have played a role. It was the weekend before Thanksgiving.

for what it's worth (given you're in US) you will get 20% off (with no question asked, possibly more with some hard bargaining!) at any dealer in a UK airport, regardless of your destination...
note: i never said this... but i experienced it! ;-)
good luck,
pg

I picked up my Navitimer at 5th Ave Boutique and got a discount plus a strap and a bottle of champagne. Amazing experience. They were probably ok with spoiling me because I'm sure they met their daily quota when the guy before me bought 3 -20k watches. They were in a good mood.
