I was watching "Wednesday Wind-Up: State of the Luxury Watch Industry" from watchuwantinc on youtube, and it seems like there will be big changes for Breitling.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1enZ2VsSiJI
The numbers pop up just after 9:20 in the video.

I'm guessing the Galactic line will be the first to go. After that, I'm guessing they'll clean up the Chronomat line and give it the more conventional bezel look. I can see some thinning of the Avenger line but it's really anyone's guess. I was just about to start a thread about them thinning the herd so I'd love to hear what direction everyone else thinks they'll go.

I only know Georges has some very clear visions and ideas on how to shape the various product lines and how to 'thin the herd' and make it more recognizable which watch belongs into which product line and why

I guess we'll see some clear(er) indications soon but it looks and sounds (very) promising

VC ownership was always going to drive rationalisation, there's no appetite for SKUs that don't make money. The good news is by hiring Georges the direction appears to be watch driven rather than just profit driven.

Along with the Galactic line I think that the Colt Skyracer's run will be short lived. For a brand that see's itself as a luxury brand the price of the skyracer does little to enhance that image. Although I think that it's launch has met with success, it lowers the overall average price of a watch sold by the brand. It may be time to get one if you really like it!!

It would be nice to see them get some control over distribution and inventory levels. It seems like they allow dealers to flood the grey market with inventory thus dragging down the overall value of the brand. Rolex is genius here with how they have controlled inventory to the point that they can control perceived value along with real value of each watch over time. I get that Rolex makes a nice watch but so does Breitling, at the end of the day they are both incredibly expensive non essential products. It is all about controlling supply and marketing in the right way.

I hope they make new bracelets for the Transocean line. Something close to the Navitimer - or Chronomat pilot bracelet.
But who knows, maybe the Transocean line will be removed, and Top Time will come back?

I'd be all for a different bracelet option for the Transocean. I will admit, I was never a fan of the mesh though until I tried it on and realized how comfortable it was.

I am wearing my Transocean Day Date with the mesh bracelet while typing this - it is very comfortable indeed. More comfortable than Omega mesh - but I prefer the look of Omega mesh.

I've been a bit out of the watch world for a while now, but I don't know how I missed this news. I didn't know that CVC Capital bought Breitling, much less that they put a new CEO in. I think the new CEO is fantastic news, as I've been less than impressed with Breitling's past leadership for quite some time. Breitling perpetually comes out with more and more watches that are so similar to previous ones. I've often wondered how management could financially justify some of the decisions they were making. I think Georges Kern is going to be a breath of fresh air at Breitling.

Well said! I’d love to see them clean it up and control inventory more as well. Then perhaps we wouldn’t see the rendonkulous 60% off (greys) which kill us the few times we flip...
