I did try the search function but bezel is far to common to give a result.

6 month old Seawolf II. AD bought. Have warranty card.

The bezel has broken so it can move in either direction with no clicking.

I have seen that this is a fairly common issue.

Is this covered by the warranty?

Yes, it will be covered so long as no tampering/obvoius damage has occured.

Went to my local AD.

Seems to be a grey area. Breitling have to check to make sure there was no intentional damage!!

I think the bigger question would be why would anyone intentionally damage a €3k watch?!

It may be covered under warranty, it may not.

Honestly I am really annoyed. I bought from an AD to avoid things like this. I paid the premium to have that peace of mind and now I potentially may have to pay for a repair which is never cheap!!!

Buy Rolex, seriously

Maybe I am being petty but this has really put me off buying Breitling again. I still have a Citizen Eco-Drive that I bought for around €400 12 years ago. Never a bother on it, never a problem.

Then I spend €3500 on my SeaHawk, it gets a knock, the bezel breaks and Breitling wont cover warranty on it. €175 for the repair.

I really feel stiffed by the company that is charging a serious premium.

Begin a line of communication with Breitling, via email or telephone, to find out why they won't repair under warranty and what they see as the issue. Check your documents / warranty card to make sure everything is as it should be, and get a telephone number - it was a few years ago now, but I called and got put through to a technician for advice, so I expect it's still possible to do this.

What kind of knock was it, did you bang it into a desk, or did if fall from a counter onto the floor?

Honestly I dont know. Its a daily wear that I alternate with a Superocean II so I probably knocked it off a door or on a table of something like that. General usage and not old. The plastic is still on some of the surround.

Sent email to Breitling UK yesterday. They are looking into for me. And they were fairly swift with their replies.

I know as Breitlings go €3500 is not much but its still a lot of money to me and the experience so far has left a bitter taste in my mouth having spent that kind of money and something so common wouldnt be covered by warranty.

I have the Avenger Seawolf I, and it has taken a beating on the bezel many times. I always cringe when I knock it hard, but to its credit, its been rock solid and works perfectly. I wonder if lower strength parts are used in the newer versions, or a different manufacturing/assembly process.

anyway, good luck. Hope you get it sorted.

Actually, if it was a knock / impact that caused it, then the warranty won't cover it.

Positive outcome and very happy. Thanks to those here that offered advice.

Thank you for your e-mail.

I have looked into the details surrounding the repair of your watch, and can confirm that the Workshop Manager advised that the bezel click spring had broken due to an impact to the bezel (a large impact mark was noted between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions).

As the purchase warranty does not cover damage as a result of accident or misapplication, our estimate was sent for the corrective works required. However, given the age of your watch, and as this is the first occasion that your watch has been in our care, I can confirm that I have arranged for this work to be carried out at no charge as a gesture of goodwill.

I hope that this solution is acceptable to you, and that once your watch has been returned to you, you will be wearing your Avenger II Seawolf with confidence and pride for many years to come. If however I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kindest regards

Samantha
