Well, I just received the service estimate for my B1 from the Abu Dhabi AD. $1496US equivalent!! The estimate was very short on detail, but had the description from Breitling's website of an overhaul service with the following added "(movement replacement on some models)". I told them that the movement had no problems, and I would not accept replacement as part of the service. I told them they could perform the overhaul per the Breitling website description and price list, or do a simple maintenance (seals, cleaning, batt change, and pressure test), also per the price list.

Not real happy with their performance so far.

Try Breitling in Dubai. I used them few years ago and they were much more reasonable than Abu Dhabi

That is ridiculously expensive. I seem to remember that BUK & BUSA would replace the B1 movement as a matter of course during an overhaul at no cost. My 1999 B1 which I bought from a forum member has the later Superquartz movement. Breitling service costs are becoming prohibitively expensive for those of us who enjoy the older models.

This is exactly why I moved on from Breitling. The service costs don't justify the value of the watch. I've had my battery changed on my Airwolf twice. Both times I need to have the movement service! I think the next time I'm just going to have a local just do it.

This is the reason I sold my B01 Chronomat and have kept the older models. This way if need be I can have a good non-Breitling repair person do the work on my watches, including my Omega, if the financial part becomes an issue. I did have my Steelfish, 2007, get a complete overhaul at BUSA in 2014 for around $450. They did an outstanding job and the watch has run well since. Not sure what that same service would cost now but I guess I will have to face that when the time comes.
Frank.

Yeah, I'm going to retrieve the watch from them. I'll probably let my wife bring it back to the states and have her send it to BUSA.

Have you tried Govberg Repair? They are Breitling authorized and very reasonable about what actually needs to be done. Quick turn around too.

That can't be right. The battery service, around $200, consists of new battery, seals, rate adjustment, seals/gaskets water pressure test.

The complete Quartz service intervention includes the above plus full movement overhaul disassembly, replacing movement parts as needed, lubrication and adjustment. This service for Quartz Ana digi multifunction watches cal 78 & 79 is in the $600 neighborhood and it is recommended at least once every 10 years.

This may be good idea.

Let me assure you this is correct. "Our technician has determined that your movement has XYZ high compensation issue. We must service the movement for a sh#tload of $$". I reply "Please just change the battery". They reply "We cannot replace the battery with this condition. We will just need to send the watch back to you". I say "OK, do whatever it takes". Then, I vote with my feet. I unload all Breitling watches except for the Airwolf and will probably unload it as well.

When the cost of ownership surpasses the cost of the watch in very short order, not even close to good service after the sale, and QC issues, I do not see myself buying another.
