I've recently spotted a navitimer for sale locally that I'm trying to identify.
I think I've narrowed it down to the 92 series (d30022 I think) but the scale on the white outer section of the dial seems to be from a rattrapante of a similar age?
Is this a frankenwatch or just something I've missed?

Not going to be able to tell much from that photo. Do you have anymore?

Sorry I've got a larger pic but I had to crop it so much just to get it to upload.
I'll post something a bit better asap

Finally figured out how to get a better pic up!
So what do you guys think?

The photo is still not the best, but on face value it does look like a Navitimer 92, but with a slide rule instead of a Telemetre scale. There was a Football version of this size Navitimer that had a Tachymetre, so Breitling did use at least one different scale on this watch, but I've never seen a slide rule before. Have you asked the seller what the story is?

Not yet, just spotted it in the window and took a pic.
I'll prob pop in there this week and get some background on it.

sliderule is clearly incorrect for this dial/model, probably came off an Airborne (not too many Rattrapante around ;) )

Thanks Fred, that looks spot on. The rattrapante was just the only 38mm I could see on google images.
Do have any idea how easy it would be to put right?

probably not easy, haven't seen a spare sliderule for the 92 for sale iirc. Breitling MIGHT have the part, but would only supply it with a service, might turn out to be prohibitively expensive.

Just went back and asked how much they were asking for it,
And she said £3950 (5145usd). Seems extremely expensive even if it were mint?

totally unrealistic for a mint and perfectly correct example ...

Post subject:  Re: Navi identification

The issue is that they probably bought it for more than it is realistically worth......given the issues that they clearly did not know about!
They will hold out for a uninformed punter to buy it rather than loose money.

Walk away and keep looking you will find the one!

:D

I've always loved the look of the navitimer but not a fan of the modern sizes.
But I think I'll keep my eyes open for another one of these!

I have two 43mm (One Cosmonaute and one Montbrillanta) and they are fine.

Try one on in a shop you may be surprised.

To be honest it's more to do with my skinny wrists than the watch itself
