So I got my first watch, an old colt quartz that was my father's. Right now it's at breitling with a hefty service fee (almost 900).

One thing I noticed was that there's the M50035 with the fixed bars, that I'd really like. Would it be possible to use that case with it or would it not even be worth the fee for it and I'd be better off just finding one for sale?

Also, does anyone know if i forego the polishing (as i like the wear on it) would the complete service be slightly cheaper? here's a run down of the services they claim it needs. My dad took it to a jeweler years ago and they screwed up the seals and it's just sort of sat around ever since.

The reason the service is expensive is they are replacing the dial and crystal. If you ask them not to do case refinishing they should leave it and it may reduce the cost slightly but not much. Case change is not feasible.
