I've noticed a few times that right around midnight, instead of the date changing right at 12:00:00 it changes right around 11:58:00. I was just curious if this is normal, and also since I like to understand how this kind of things work, was wondering (If it is normal) why they have it set to change a minute or so prior to 12:00:00. Thanks in advance! Maybe someone can clue me in to this little quirk.

It's perfectly normal. You haven't told us which version of the Chronomat you have but on most the process takes several hours which is why the 'danger zone' for using the quick set date exists. The date change wheel moves to engage with the running train and the precise moment when the indication changes can vary.

Sorry for not putting the exact version, it's a Chronomat 44, Blackeye Blue. It was my understanding that the B01 movement didn't have that "danger zone" you were talking about.

Hence why I said most. Approach is the same, mechanics are different, and it still isn't a problem.
