All I see is an expensive Luminox and a fancy name for the glorified plastic case........

It's nothing that I'd buy but I will at least say I'm glad they're trying new materials. I'd rather have seen this with an automatic movement, preferably the 3 hand in house one we've been hoping for as others have mentioned. I'm curious to see what the price will be, I sent George a text today but he hadn't heard anything yet.

Quartz is a deal-breaker for me. And I agree with Driver8 here, my first thought was the watch looked cheap somehow.

It's a good design for professionals. Extremely highly legible.

From a consumer's standpoint, well.... classic looks, classic fonts, classic color, nothing to fault, but nothing to be particularly impressed about. I thought I saw a Luminox when I first read the news. I guess Breitling wants to capture a new market segment with this model.

I have no problem with paying for a high end quartz or non-inhouse movement. But for a high end instrument for professionals I expect some steel, aluminium, titanium, gold... something metal.

Plastic ? G-shock. Timex. Recycle bin with "Plastic" on it.

This model is pleasing to my eye but... 45mm ? Too large. Considering Hurricane is 50mm maybe it is impossible to make smaller cases with Breitlight. I prefer my watches smaller, not lighter.

When they mention future, I think they don't talk about quartz or non-inhouse movement but Breitlight watches. What is next ? 60mm Breitlight Chronomat GMT?

Sorry, I'm just old and grumpy guy enjoying old school metal watches :D

Sorry, for me this watch is quite simply, ghastly. It looks very cheap to my eyes, and I just don't get this 'Breitlight'. I want steel on my wrist not some lightweight composite material, because part of the pleasure of wearing a watch is it's substance as well as looks & fine detail. I'd honestly rather wear an Apple/iwatch quite frankly. But if it floats your boat, fine, thank goodness we all have different tastes.

I'm a big fan of clean, legible dials, - BUT, that is just plain boring to me I'm afraid.

And what's with the 'tape measure' strap?

Honestly....I actually like the strap, it gives the whole watch a more instrumental and technical look. And you can really use it as it's not just for beautifying. For example, you can use it for map reading.

I like it !!!
But then again I like seawolf avengers and their "plain" highly legible dials .....

In the spirit of "tools for professionals" this is a tool watch , and when I think of "professionals" I don't think of preofessional accountants , attorneys, architects etc . ;)

Interesting that the strap is 22-20 , as I could try it on one of my watches as it's kind of unique .
But I don't see any pictures from the rear , and I just watched the video on the website and there is nothing showing it from the rear .
Has anybody seen the buckle on this watch ?
Is it a "Normal" polished stainless buckle or something unique to this watch ?

I visited an AD over the weekend to check out Breitlight in the flesh (on the Hurricane). Wow, it's wild - very hard to describe. Doesn't feel like plastic, metal or anything else I can think of. I guess carbon fiber would be closest. I liked it in person and the dial config on the new Skyracer is perfect for me. I've asked two AD's about price and no one knows. Trying to decide between this (waiting probably 3-4 mos) or a SQ Colt (anyone know if the regular Colt is due for a Basel refresh!?).

I'll have to go see one in person , but from the pictures it does look like carbon fiber .
Not the "weave" kind obviously , but an impregnated type .
I have some very old rod Hutchinson carp rods in the garage with the same finish :)

Due to breitling aeronautical connection , I'm guessing it's of a higher quality material than my old rods !!!
Probably micro-tubes in a polymer like the f35-lightning ?

I've played around with carbon fiber in my spare time . It's fun !!
This is one of my (many) unfinished projects taking up space in the garage . A mouded rear of a subwoofer box for the back of a vw beetle .

$2,000 is the number, interesting move here - an affordable (by Breitling and Swiss standards) SuperQuartz (HAQ) tool watch. Bold move by Breitling, I see this potentially opening up a whole new market of buyers to the brand. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/breitling-c ... tch-price/

That rubber doesn't look good at all. Dial looks cheap. Case and material are interesting.

With a green military strap it could look nice. But not for me.
