Hello

I suddenly having trouble with my watch. It stopped dead in its tracks while it should have been properly wound up. I tried to wind it up a couple of times, which would normally make it run >30 hours, but it stopped very quickly, in a matter of minutes at best. While I wind it up, it starts running again, and the same if I move it around (simulating arm movement).

I want to bring it in for repair but it would be good to have some prior knowledge to what this might be. Anybody have a similar problem? I'm thinking it may be the spring, but why would it run at all then?

Thanks!

Sounds a lot more like dirt in the running train causing inertia that the mainspring can't overcome. Problem gets worse with mainspring age as that loses strength and hence can no longer deliver the same torque through the running train. Simple fix as part of servicing.
