Hi everyone,

Newbie with a few questions alert!

I've owned a Colt for over ten years, as far as I remember it was from the Aeromarine range - bought from an AD in Preston around 2004. Over the years the crown became more difficult to engage, stripped threads I'm guessing which appears to be an issue with these watches. As it was mainly a dress watch I lived with this for ages, crown disengaged.

Again, over years the winder mechanism became more and more difficult to use, I guessed all was not well (it felt horrendous to wind if that makes sense, almost like it had no lubrication at all) and effectively mothballed the poor Breitling in favour of a Suunto Core, and then Sinn UX. (which ironically is on it's way back to Frankfurt after just 7 months use..)

So after putting off the overhaul and repair I'm mentally boxing the watch up to go back to BSUK. So, after that tale of woe, a few questions if that's ok!

1. How much do Breitling charge to quote a repair? (I think you get a list of essentials and so would-be-nice stuff?)
2. I'm assuming you pay return postage if it's beyond economical repair?
3. Has anyone had the Aeromarine Crown/Threads job done - my understanding is, it's not simple and requires a new case???

I think the overhaul is around £350, but I'm trying to guesstimate crown/thread issue?

Thanks all, very much appreciated :)

Before and after pics to follow I guess (hope!)

Sorry all, I may have answered (with a casual 30second browse!) one of my questions - looks like Breitling charge £21 if you decided not to proceed with repairs...

Overhaul also seems to have gone up since last I checked £415..!

It's a mechanical watch, it's not beyond economical repair because it can run for another 100+ years. Stripped threads in the aeromarine range may well mean a new middle case, accurate estimate will require the quote from BUK.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

The plan is to send to BUK this week, let's see what comes back - and thanks for the welcome!
