So far I have a Panerai Pam 90 and a Rolex Two tone bluesy Submariner. I want to add a 3rd watch to the collection and this time I want a Breitling. I like the 24 hour display and large 50mm size of the Avenger Hurricane but I wonder if its worth substantially more than the Breitling Super Avenger II which is a 48mm. Also the Hurricane is made of a new "Breitlight" material which is basically plastic for a watch that has an MSRP for $8,390. If you had to choose one over the other which one would you go for and why? I like my watches bold and flashy with wrist presense instead of being low key and flying under the radar. Save my money and go with the Super Avenger 2 or spend the extra $ and get the 24 hour display and 50mm case of the Avenger Hurricane?

If it was my choice I'd opt for the Super Avenger 2 with baton markers for simplicity and clarity and at 48/49mm it's not teeny and has plenty of wrist presence. The dial of the Hurricane is a bit too cluttered for my liking and I think I would tire of it. I also favour the stainless steel case of the Avenger 2 over the Breitlight which I know is a lot lighter but too light for my taste. The Hurricane is also only 100m WR which I guess is fine for a an aviators watch but I'd be more reassured by the 300m of the Avenger 2. But heck, it's your money go try them both on and go with your heart.

Buy the super avenger 2 if you want people to notice your watch.

I would go for the Hurricane if I were you. The Avenger series is not Breitling's icon or flagship but it is one of their very popular models and the most rugged design I have ever come across. Based on what you already have, the Hurricane adds more variation to yr collection. I have personally seen and worn the Hurricane on my wrist and I think I like it, although not enough to make me buy one. Even though it's just plastic, it doesn't take away the toughness feel of the watch in my opinion and instead the extra lightness feels like the piece is practically ready for missions. Also with Breitlight this piece does represent a milestone in the history book of Breitling and I personally like "milestone" pieces because I take many other factors into consideration and not just the design alone. When you appreciate the watch more than just purely design, chances are that you will not get tired of the watch easily.

However assuming if you have no luxury watch yet and getting it as your one and only watch, I would recommend the stainless steel version instead. More on the classic side and more versatile for long term.

Hope it helps you decide what you want.

I know watches arent investments and it doesnt matter much in the grand scheme of things but will the Super Avenger 2 in Blue with a stainless steel bracelet hold better resale value over the Avenger Hurricane?

I wouldn't make any type of estimate concerning the future resale value of the Breitling Hurricane, the watch isn't a year old, there are not that many in circulation and the material that the case is made from was only recently introduced. Hard to predict future resale!

I can get a Brand new Hurricane for about $6250 and a new Super Avenger 2 for $3875. From the same dealer I got my Rolex and brand new Panerai from with warranty card.

Go for something in between price wise with a Bentley GMT like this one. This will get noticed just as much as the Super Avenger or the Hurricane.

Bentley GMT

I'm pretty sure most people who own Bentley watches don't own the matching car.

You got that right! I've had 3 B4B watches.......and the closest I've ever come to a Bentley is a 7 Series!

I have a white dial with Arabic numerals and I love it. I have had several compliments on it. It gets noticed a lot.

I'd go with the SA, no question. I'm just not a fan of the Breitlight material.
