Good day to all. Trust everyone is well and will have a great 2017.

I have an issue with my Superocean Chronograph pictured below.

It's from 2006. It keeps time like a quartz pretty much.

But this is the issue I have.
If i wear it 24 hours a day it's fine.

If i hand wind it and place it on a table to rest, it will run the full 40 odd hours.

However if worn continously the automatic winding is poor. After the initial handwind 40 hours passes, it appears it carries then a 6 hour reserve or so. I am not particularly active. Breitling has checked and they say its fine.

I had a master watchmaker take a look. Says it absolutely fine. Explained that this is a lazy winder and free wheels a lot. ALSO explained that often if the rotor turns in the right direction, the inertia sends it back freewheeling.

My newer super avengers didnt do this. So not sure what to do as well.

I am not sure how long this issue has been present as i usually have worn the watch occasionally for a day or two at most and then it would be out for a week or two.

Advice would be most appreciated.

I got a winder for my SOH Chrono 44. Keeps good time now. Before I felt like the reserve was pretty weak.

A winder won't solve the problem. If there is an issue then putting it on a winder set for the number of required turns will establish whether the rotor winding is operating properly - i.e. does it stay running. If it doesn't that's evidence of a problem, if it does then it's simply not enough movement to keep it wound.

Thanks Roff. That does make sense. The watchmakers did say the winding by rotor was fine though. What would you recommend as the next step i take?

I use an Orbita, clockwise 800 turns per day. Suits my A13340. Most watch winder companies have a database that will give you the settings for your movement.
