Hey gang, I am back again seeking solid thoughts and advise. Its been a few months since I posted and have really ventured outside the box on what I thought I wanted vs what I do!

I have come to the conclusion that a Rolex Dayton is a grail watch for me... and thats ok. I can afford it anytime soon, so I will fill my needs with something on the used market that still is my style!!

I have been contacted by a friend who has a Breitling for sale! I am hoping you guys can tell me if its a decent deal, and give me details about the watch... i.e.:
Whats it worth
Movement
Production years
You get the picture!

So here are some details of the watch...
Model: Breitling Chronomat A1335211
Dial: MOP
Bezel: Stainless Steel
Bracelet: Stainless Steel
Case measurements: 40mm wide
Condition: 99% no issues with the watch, and has been regularly serviced on recommended scheduled dates!
He has all boxes, paper work, etc... also has a Breitling Croc band to ago along with the SS one!

Thanks gang, looking forward to your replies... As a side note, he told me he would sell it to me for $2400.

Buy immediately/Great deal/Good deal/Fair market price/or Pass?

A few details:
Production years were 2001-2004. I have a price list from 2003 that gives list price at $3675 on bracelet.
Last service date would be good to know.

Check these SOLD pieces on ebay for prices:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Jewelry-Watches ... Complete=1

Looks like they sell for about $2000 plus or minus a few hundred dollars depending on condition, box/papers, etc.
Didn't factor in croc strap - condition ?

Well from what I can see in the picture it looks in decent enough condition. It's got the manual, a warranty card (although obviously it will be out of date, but nice to have), and the COSC certificate. It'll be a good idea to check the serial number on the COSC cert matches the watch of course, but the watch is definitely real. The box it's on in the picture though isn't Breitling - it's a Rolex box - so if that's what it's coming with, it's not a complete set.

In terms of year then as Kodiak says it's a 2001 - 2004 model, but the case is actually 39mm not 40mm. The movement is the B13, which is essentially an ETA/Valjoux 7750, so not in-house but a decent enough workhorse.

Personally I'd push for a little less than $2400 for it......but TBH in my experience you'd be far better off waiting and saving for your grail as you may sate your desire in the short-term, but you'll always want the Daytona, and spending money on this will push that dream further away.

I agree with Driver that the price may seem a bit high for a private sale. It's a great looking watch and in the end it comes down to if you like it or not.

I feel if you need someone to talk you into a Breitling than you are wasting your money buying one. I would save and get what you want as opposed to spending good seed money on a second best. I wish I had gone about my watch purchasing differently and been more selective but that is just me. If you need to get a watch then get a used Rolex as that can be turned into a Daytona easier and with less loss of investment. I just think that if you are not already on board with the Breitling than you should look elsewhere. Just my .02.
Frank.

Being a Breitling fan.... my suggestion for yr case is to save up for yr Daytona and skip the Chronomat. If you buy the Chronomat I think you might end up selling it.

I think that is a nice watch and close to what I would pay. Factor in a service cost and you should have a nice watch. Imo you aren't too close to a daytona, can you get to 12.5k for a daytona c? If you can get on the list if not this is a cool watch. Id also suggest the breitling blackbird and crosswind. As well ad the hercules and headwind. For not much more you could get a bb big date and i love that watch.
