I'll keep it simple, title says it all. If you had your choice, which one and why?

This one because I'm a big fan of this bezel

I've never owned the GMT, but I've owned both the regular chronomat 44 and the airborne and I too prefer the bezel on the airborne and the lack of the square design in the center of the dial. The regular bezel really has grown on me significantly so I would say decide based upon whether you want the GMT function or not.

Both of those are sweet.

If it's chronomat 44 vs chronomat 44 airborne, I would go for Chronomat 44. The airborne is safer looking but that's all to it. The chronomat 44 has exceptional design features and details that not many appreciate or understand(eg, bezel fonts, centre dial square) but if you do, you will love it forever. IMO all design features co-exist and would lose their meaning without any of them. To me everything about it is original and not "just another watch", and it also bears the coveted title of being the first head to toe in house Breitling. Asethetically the airborne is more solemn looking due to the use of plain markers on the bezel while the regular 44 releases a more sporty appeal with the use of numerals on the bezel. Therefore the aesthetics feel of the airborne is rather close to the Navi IMO, very technical and pro looking. More suited on formal wear and doesn't look so blend in with very informal wear(eg, swim wear, divers suit, beach wear). Whereas the regular 44 has a more balance look IMO, since the dial has a sharp aviation look, while the numeral bezel balances it off with a sporty diver's appeal. However the polished finish does kind of "kill" the blend in with sporty wear.

Since your question is Chronomat 44 GMT or Chronomat 44 Airborne, I would personally go for the airborne. The main reason is because I prefer a elapsed time bezel over a GMT bezel and is more useful for my daily use. Else I would have welcomed an additional complication on the watch(GMT).

Overall it depends on what appeals more to you.

Personally I prefer the airborne model, just got the 41 version today. Just don't have any need for the GMT function, but that's a personal preference as I don't do a ton of international travel for business.

Airborne for definite. The bezel is miles better than the Galactic font. Here's my 44mm:

airborne... love the goldish slight contrasting stick markers. it's just subtly different in the chronomat line. i would have bought either airborne or the ltd edition. the latter is what came up for sale at the right price so that is what i own.

unless you use the GMT function, i wouldnt get it. i cant stand the extra hand that is present. i have a ebel GMT so i speak from experience... wish i can disable the function so it stays at 12 but no go.

My vote goes to the Chronomat 44 GMT. I've never like the vintage colored lume markers.
