Hi All,

I did a quick search on this topic and didn't see anything, so hopefully this hasn't already been discussed.

A few years back, before purchasing a second hand breitling, I called BUSA and had them check their stolen database for the serial number. No problems at all, and they even shared with me the service records for this watch in their system. Super helpful!

Just a few weeks ago, I called them again to check another serial number, and they told me that they no longer will check a serial number against their database. They said it's related to replicas and not wanting to confirm numbers. While I respect the efforts to defend against the replicas, this seems to somewhat defeat the value of maintaining the database.

Has anybody else successfully checked a serial number with Breitling USA recently? Are there any other methods to confirm if a watch being purchased second hand is not stolen?

Unless things have changed they will still confirm to an AD.

Thanks for the suggestion on to use an AD. Does anybody know if the watch needs to be presented to the AD for such a check , or can I provide the serial number and they just call? Would really like to check the Breitling stolen database before purchasing, so I don't yet have the watch in my possession.
