Why is it that Breitling now uses date wheels with fonts that don't match the font of the watch they are installed in? It seems they are now just using one unified font for all their date wheels for all their different watches.

For example, the date font on my (now sold) Navi...it matches with the font of the numbers on the rest of the dial...

And now, the NAV 01...see how the number 6 in the date window doesn't match the 6 font on the chrono sub dials or tach ring?...Is this to save money?...only to charge MORE for the newer NAVIs?

Multiple fonts aren't just a date-wheel issue : it's all over most of the new models. I think there are something like 6 different fonts on the Chronomat 01. I think someone in the design team has only just found the font drop-down on whatever design package they use - "Hey guys, look at this! Ariel isn't the only font option we have! Coooool!!"

I'm thoroughly expecting a model with a date wheel done in Wingdings before long!

I don't think that's a nit-pick, I think that's fair comment. Font is such an elemental part of the design that that is a very strange one: I think the date-font in your second shot would jump out to anyone, not just forum WIS types.

Breitling, please fire your Director of Fonts while you're at it.

The design tools have recently been upgraded from DOS operating system to Windows 3.1 which first introduced True Type font system and they are still trying to get used to it.

This! To all of the above! BTW Webdings has airplanes and cars, that would be a win for the SkylandRacermatmatic013

Have we run out of things to bitch about??? Now we're complaining about the fonts on the date wheel? If I was a director at Breitling, and I read these boards, I would laugh hysterically at some of these threads. I'd love to see the guys on Rolex forums complain that the date font doesn't match the sub's bezel.

Agreed. Although I've done my share of complaining, I've had this very same thought lately. At some point we risk coming across as just a bunch of cranky old farts who nobody will take seriously.

If I was a director at Breitling, I'd take some of these gripes seriously...all jokes aside, they seem to bother some of their customer base, and that translates directly into less sales.

There are 100,000 posts in the Breitling section alone, they aren't all going to be deep and meaningful and we have had a lot worse.

At least this isn't the same thread that we have had 100 times before.

When we complain about EVERYTHING from date font to bezel font to finishing to size to rubber to all the other complaints we have all levied we do come across as whining brats as mentioned in the previous post. I love how we are able to be so openly critical on this forum, it's definitely what sets this place apart, but the complaints are starting to border the ridiculous now.
