I just bought an A73390 and do not fully understand how to use the chrono part. I bought the chrono version for the look, not for its use. However, I would like to know how to use it. I read the manual, but it doesnt seem to explain how to use them (or maybe I just have trouble understanding). Also, there is a thin hand on the watch, similar to the sweeping second hand, that seems to tick each minute. What is its purpose? If it ticks per minute, why wouldnt the minute hand suffice? Is there a link or thread that does a better job of explaining the function better than the manual does?

The chronograph (stop watch) is started by pressing the top pusher, stopped by pressing that pusher again, and reset by pressing hte bottom pusher when stopped.

The central hour and minute hands along with the subdial seconds (at 6 o'clock on your watch) show regular time. The central seconds hand the subdial minutes that you refer to and the subdial hours are the counter for the chronograph. If the subdial minutes are ticking then the chronograph is running.

Thanks Roff! With your explanation, I now understand. Also, I believe if you press the bottom pusher while the chronograph is running, it will stop and show the split time, then press it again and it will move forward to the current chrono time count. Is that correct?

It will on yours, but not on most chronographs.
