Hi, I'm about to purchase my first Breitling, i've wanted one for as long as i can remember! I have my eye on an Avenger Seawolf Chrono with a volcano black dial on a professional steel bracelet.

Having spent many hours on the internet, especially on here, i have noticed there isn't much love for the avenger seawolf chrono?? can anyone shed any light on this for me, shall i wait a bit longer until i can afford the avenger or am i just being stupid?

any insight would be very much appreciated

Luke

Welcome aboard.
It's not lack of love, but people here (myself included) have greater love for the mechanical movements than for the quartz.

Yep, the first watch I increased my budget on was quartz and realized it was a big mistake and took a pretty good hit on it. It wasn't a Breitling which I probably would have had more love for, but it's all automatics for me now. Even the nicest quartz lings I could probably never spend more than a grand on so I highly doubt I'll ever own one. Just not the same.

The only quartz worth buying is the Emergency because it's just so special. There will be a new one coming out soon

Good choice. It's down to personal preference, I have owned many quartz watches in the past and the 'ecodrive' types which don't require periodic battery changes can be an attractive proposition as an everyday watch. I prefer mechanical watches and apart from my Lings have a drawer full of old seikos and citizens of very dubious design. I still love my Colt quartz and wear it regularly.

The Avenger Seawolf Chrono is a very stunning watch and just the perfect size at 45.4mm. Just saw the BlackSteel version (red accent) of this watch and is IMO, one of the most beautiful masculine Breitling watches ever made and easily the best looking BS model compared to the SA, Skyland, Blackbird, etc.

From the reviews that I've read, the standout feature of this watch is Breitling’s patented magnetic pushpiece system. It is also the only chronograph that is fully operational at a depth of 3,300 feet.

"This system, a Breitling exclusive, activates the chronograph controls through the metal of the case, without any direct mechanical contact. This approach circumvents the Achilles heel found in traditional chronograph cases – the holes in the case and the mechanical pusher-movement interface. Breitling’s unique system eliminates the holes, allowing this chronograph to function at extreme depths. This diver’s chronograph is also equipped with a decompression valve and a glareproof sapphire crystal for optimal readability. Breitling’s SuperQuartz caliber provides a level of accuracy ten times superior to that of standard quartz movements."
