Is there any significance to getting / not getting a hang tag with the purchase of new Breitling from an AD?

Not really. They usually come with one, but sometimes it gets lost or thrown out. A lot of stores use the hang tag to stick the price tag on.

It just suddenly occurred to me that my new Superocean Heritage from an AD didn't have a hang tag. At least I now know that there's nothing wrong with it.

My first Ling came with a bezel protector, but no hang tag. My second Ling came with a hang tag, but no bezel protector. Both items are hit and miss, and nothing to be concerned about either way.

Whilst these things are no major deal I do think that if you're spending a significant amount on a watch that all the things that come from the factory should be in there. Breitling in the UK are so mean that they send nothing out regarding merchandise, even when you spend thousands on their product. If my Navitimer 01 Limited had arrived less than perfect I would have been not happy. As it was it came pristine with box, outer cover, tag and bezel protector. That's what I expect.

That's an understandable expectation, but for some reason it just doesn't work that way, at least with Breitling. The big items that are non-negotiable with a new Ling from an AD are the boxes (outer box, bakelite box, and travel case on current sales), instruction manual, COSC certificate, and warranty card, as well as the holder for those items. Those you absolutely can expect and insist on. But the hang tag and bezel protector are hit and miss; I'm not sure why. I suppose it's possible you could tell your AD you expect them; maybe they'd accommodate you. At any rate, their presence, or lack thereof, is not a reason to question a watch's authenticity.

I've never even seen a bezel protector for a Navitimer.

Oh I know that they exist, just for some reason I have never had / seen a watch that still had one.

I got a bezel protector once. Usually get a hang tag. Overall, it doesn't make a difference to me.

I've never gotten a bezel protector but my last two Breitlings did come with the hang tags. I act as the bezel protector now, I guess.

If I am not mistaken, doesn't Breitling ship the watch heads individually from Switzerland in bulk and then all the other stuff apart? I think I read that somewhere and it would make sense in a way since if they shipped individually each watch + box + papers + etc they wouldn't be maximizing their shipment space. Then once the AD's get the shipment they put them together with all the boxes, papers, tags, bezel protectors, etc and its at this stage that they might "forget" something. Dunno, this could explain the discrepancies we're observing...

The shipping packages that I have seen always had bracelets / straps, but boxes and paperwork is separate. Definitely didn't have hang tags on, don't remember about bezel protectors.
