I want to change the color of my SA dial from white to black. Can it be done and still be under warranty at my local AD?

I believe that your AD can have it sent to B to be done for you. If you do it yourself, or have an unauthorized repair done somewhere else, you will lose your warranty.

how much do they charge for that?

I have a similar situation. and the answer to your Question is yes. It would void warranty. the S/N is based on the watch model and specific details of the watch like dial color. if the watch doesn't match the s/n the warranty is void. as told to me by my AD. That being said if you wanted to swap the face anyway it would cost you anywhere from 50-100 dollars. What I decided to do is wait till the warranty period is over and then change the dial.

So even if I send it to B to have it replaced the warranty will still be void?

from what I was told by my AD Breitling will not change out a dial. there was a time when they would, but no longer Even if they did it would be very expensive because you would have to buy the dial from them.

There was a recent discussion on TZ about this and Breitling won't change out the dial. I guess they used to do it but have stopped recently.

Correct, in fact Breitling used to offer a 6 month 'exchange' program to have the dial changed. Now, they won't do it, and they won't sell you a dial separately.

I guess that means I will just have to buy another SA!

Different, but related, gripe...I was surprised to learn yesterday (from my AD) that people working for Breitling cannot buy a personal watch from the company - they have to go through 'normal' dealer channels. This came up as one of the sales reps came to my AD and asked him to order a watch!

The same seems to apply to the Richemont Group also - Cartier have the same policy (not sure about Panerai...)

I find this, to say the least, surprising...

The cheeky gits! By contrast the Swatch group allow their employees to buy at least one watch per year at huge discounts - so that means Omega, and er..... Rado, etc

It would seem reasonable, working for the damn company...

A well known German car manufacturer allows their employees (at least here in France) to purchase 4 (yes, four!) cars a year - they must keep the car for 3 months after which they can do what they like with it.

Needless to say they are able to have a hefty discount on the original purchase, then they simply post an ad on the official company site (in the '2nd hand' section). I saved a packet by buying a 3 month old car in this way...
