Do warranties transfer between owners? i.e. if someone bought from an AD and you have there certificate, are you still covered?

Yes.

my AD is telling me that the warranty doesn't transfer because the watch is only registered to the original owner. is there any way to re-register or what do you do if you need warranty work?

The original owner's name is not registered anywhere on the Breitling Warranty booklet/certificate. Rolex DO register the original owner's name and address on the warranty form, but Breitling do not. Therefore there is no way to say who the original owner is. Provided you have a stamped and completed International Warranty card that is in date, Breitling will honour the warranty. I think your AD is talking BS!!

Are you sure about this? I know that my AD had a card that was some type of warranty registration card, that they filled out themselves and sent to BUSA. I dont think it makes any difference when it comes to redeeming the warranty though, as it really only implies that you are the person who purchased the watch, not necessarily the owner of the watch.

I have to agree with Driver8 here. My pre-owned B-1 is still under warranty for a little less than a year. My local AD confirmed that I could bring it in if I had a problem and Breitling would honor the original warranty. Maybe your AD is just trying to get you to buy a new Breitling?

i also agree with D8. none of my bling purchases required giving in personal details. it is only the date of purchase, the watch serial nimber and the AD stamp and that is it :)

Maybe some AD's like to capture a little more info for their own records than others. And maybe things are a little different in the US..... I can't say as I've only bought in the UK. All I can say is that my personal experience has been that they have never taken down any personal information for registration purposes, and the warranty card only has the date of purchase, the model and serial numbers and the AD's stamp. That's it.

If in any doubt maybe you could give BUSA a call and ask. You could always just say that you've bough a pre-owned watch that is still in warranty, say it's got a minor problem of some sort, and ask if the warranty will be honoured. I'm sure it will be.
