Looks right to me - these were produced for a few years around either side of 1990 for military use. They often appear with military emblems where the Breitling logo is on this one.

I've seen those before, so it is genuine. Interesting, but nasty wear on it though. :? I hate to say, but that is exactly what puts me off the Blacksteel Skyland.....
I know the finish on the Skyland is probably tougher than PVD, but the spectre of the finish wearing off would stop me from ever wearing it.

Think that first model of 'civil' Colt was made after this military one.

That's the same strap I had on my first Breitling -a Colt that I purchased around that time. The strap actually did the same thing as the one in the pic, it just kind of started to tear apart, and finally did come apart at one place. However, I wore that thing almost constantly for over 6 years, so no complaints on that one. I remember the strap as being kind of like a ruler, with the measurements printed on it.
The finish on the Colt looks quite a bit different than the Blacksteel, though, actually a lot blacker. I would call my Blacksteel more anthracite, the Colt almost looks painted on, although I know it's not, and seems to look quite good for it's age. I do hope the Blacksteel will wear better, though.
I actually managed to get over $800.00 towards a new SuperOcean on a trade in 1997. I thought that was pretty darn good, considering I paid about $600.00 for the Colt in 1991. I wonder what the price of the black one was new.
Cheers,
Carl

I believe the Blacksteel is a DLC coating not a PVD coating. I have a coral club badge coming soon btw ;)
