Mine has been charged the first time when I bought it 10th o September (2016). Today battery is at 45% (tilt function disabled). I think I will charge it when it will drop to 20% so I think sometime in the middle of January 2017 (so after 4 months)

4 months out of one charge is awesome!

Does anyone know how the rechargeable battery will hold up over time? Is it something that Breitling will change when the watch is sent in for service? That's my only hesitation from getting a Cockpit B50.

I was told that the B55 battery lasts for around 10 years, replacement cost approx £250. I assume the B50 would be similar.

Thanks for the info darkblack! That's my biggest fear is the battery's life span. With my cell phone I notice it decreasing over time but I replace it every 1.5-2 years, but I'd be getting the B50 to wear for decades.

This info was shared by a Breitling sales staff so might be a bit exaggerated. Maybe one of the long time owners here might shed some light on this.

Hopefully so! It was released in 2014, so hopefully the batteries aren't too terrible after two years.

In the B50 instructions it is written that the battery will last 10 years or about 300 cycles.

Both of these watches are lovely, how to chose? Pros and cons?

To me the the biggest advantage of the B55 is the ability to update the watch firmware from your phone whenever Breitling releases a new update. You can't do that with the B50. You have to send the watch to the Breitling service center and more often than not, B50 owner's are never notified if a software update is ever available.

The other advantage is that the B55 can synchronize with NTP internet Time.

Downside of the B55 is cost and the likelihood of planned obsolesce. Bluetooth may go away in the next 5-10 years rendering the connected capabilities useless in the future. Also Breitling now under ownership, has not been clear as to how they plan to keep these watches up to date. Another problem is if the new CVC ownership will even keep this lineup alive once the acquisition completes.

B55 has better resale value too if you change your mind later on.
